2. Daydreams, measure 19
3. Country Call, measures 71 - 102, review measures 1 - 70

Rehearsal for Tuesday, April 28

Hello everyone,

So far I don't have word yet on whether we will have Harlem Nocturne. Here is what I have planned (in order) for Tuesday's rehearsal:

1. Warm-Up
2. Old Churches - run through
3. Rondo - m. 1-29(please check out the new link I've put on this blog for Mozart's Bassoon Concerto)
4. Daydreams - all
5. Rolling Thunder - run through
6. Rhosymedre - 40 - end
7. Amparito Roca - 66 -98
8. Country Call - review 1 - 33, work 33 - 71
9. March of the Belgian Paratroopers - letter C to E.

In order for us to get all of these things, it's very important that everyone be in their seats and ready to play by 7:30. Ideally, you should arrive 10 to 15 minutes before rehearsal so that you can warm-up and tune.

Please let me and/or your section leader know if you will be late or missing rehearsal.

See you Tuesday!

Karen

Rehearsal for Tuesday, April 21

Hello everyone,

The music for Harlem Nocturne is not in yet so the full band will be rehearsing until 9:30. Daydreams and the Rondo are available so we will be sight-reading this music tonight. We will also be focusing on what I had mentioned in the last posting.

See you tonight!

Updated Music List

Hello everyone,

Here is the updated music list for the Spring Concert:

March of the Belgian Paratroopers
Old Churches
Rhosymedre
Amparito Roca
Harlem Nocturne (Jazz Ensemble with Dr. Renter)
Daydreams (with Dr. Renter)
Rondo for Wind Band and Solo (with Dr. Renter)
Country Call
Rolling Thunder

Our next rehearsal is on Tuesday, April 21. We should have our new music by then so we will begin rehearsal on that. In order to rehearse Harlem Nocturne with the jazz ensemble, I'd like to dismiss everyone but saxes, trumpets, trombones, percussion and Bonnie on piano by 9:10. The score calls for guitar and bass so if anyone is interested in giving it a shot, please let me know.

Also for our next rehearsal, we will work on Rhosymedre by reviewing the 3 different lines (hymn tune, obbligato, bass line) and also focus on expressivity and intonation.

We will work the first section of the Country Call so PLEASE have your parts learned for then. We will also begin working on March of the Belgian Paratroopers. Again, please have your parts ready for then.

Remember:
PRACTISE to REHEARSE,
REHEARSE to PERFORM

Hello everyone,

I thought I would try this as a new means of communication for all of us. I would like to use this blog as an opportunity for me to tell you what my plans are and for you to offer any comments, interesting links or information to other band members. I will do my best to update this often.

Yesterday YouTube, today blogs, tomorrow THE WORLD!
